Peace and Reconciliation Service in Bettws

We first held this service in response to the events of 9/11/2001. Now as we are continually horrified by the news, it’s maionly about world's urgent need for peace and reconciliation. In the service we prayed about many sad events, and dedicated ourselves to pursuing the ways of peace and reconciliation.

So we met at the Shopping Centre at 11am on September 11th 2015

Tributes were paid to the late Colin Baker, chairman of Bettws in Bloom, who had   played a leading part in organising the service since its beginning.

Young people from Millbrook Primary School, Monnow Primary School, Newport High School, and Ysgol Gymraeg Ifor Hael. The Old Comrades were also present with their standards and the Bettws in Bloom Choir also took part. The Lord Lieutenant of Gwent, Sir Simon Boyle, was also present.

The Mayor of Newport, Councillor Herbie Thomas, came too, and underlined the importance of following these ways, especially for the young people present. He said that Bettws was unique in holding such a service on September 11th.

The Lord Lieutenant of Gwent, Sir Simon Boyle, was also present.

Thanks, too, to EnergiZe Radio for their help.
